A flag-waving “Last Night of the Proms” comes to Sawtry on Saturday 23 February, with a music packed performance by the popular RAF Wyton Voluntary Band to raise funds for Sawtry charity CARESCO.
The Proms concert takes place at Sawtry Community College at 19.30 and features a programme of popular and light music from broadway and film, as well as military favourites such as The Great Escape and The Dambusters. It will finish with the enthusiastic rendition by the Band, supported by the traditional singing and flag waving of the audience, of Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory, and Jerusalem.
Party poppers, flags and cake
Flags and party poppers are provided for concert goers, as well as cake to celebrate CARESCO’s 30th birthday. All proceeds from the concert go to CARESCO to help it continue its work of supporting the elderly, housebound and socially isolated in Sawtry and the surrounding area.
