This row of houses contained shops throughout the
census period 1841 to 1901.
No 64 was successively grocer, draper, baker and shoemaker. It
was bought by John Brawn in 1817 and stayed in the family until
sold to the Langley family in 1920.
No 66 was a bakery throughout - although, for a period a brick-maker
lived there. It was built in 1834 . It survived the Gidding fire.
No 68 was initially a butcher, but then continuously a sadler.
No 70 was first a shoemaker then a butcher/grocer and in1901 a
draper/grocer.
Nos 68 and 70 appear to have been owned as a pair and were built/rebuilt
in 1862 as they were caught in the 1861 fire.
